On Wednesday 22nd June, Mrs Maxwell's dad Ian, visited the Grade 3/4s. He brought with him a variety of interesting artefacts, most of which were quite old.
Ian drove to Footscray in his 1950 FX Holden, there are only about 200 left. It was the first car built in Australia, specifically for Australian use.
He also brought with him a variety of cameras, the oldest the Kodak Box Brownie was made in around 1930, the next oldest, another Brownie that Ian got for his 10th birthday in 1960, then his SLR camera from the mid-70s. Ian still has hundreds of slides that were taken during the late 70s and early 80s with the SLR camera, so he showed the 3/4s some slides using his projector, everybody enjoyed seeing Mrs Maxwell as a baby!
Ian also brought an old typewriter and showed everyone how to use it. He had some photos of various phones too, so we have been able to make a timeline showing the changes in phones from 1930 to today.
Lastly Ian showed the 3/4s some old tools that he borrowed from a friend of his, who is a collector and his old digital calculator.
It was a very informative and interesting afternoon.
