Ian's interesting artefacts!
On Wednesday 22nd June, Mrs Maxwell's dad Ian, visited the Grade 3/4s. He brought with him a variety of interesting artefacts, most of which were quite old.
Ian drove to Footscray in his 1950 FX Holden, there are only about 200 left. It was the first car built in Australia, specifically for Australian use.
He also brought with him a variety of cameras, the oldest the Kodak Box Brownie was made in around 1930, the next oldest, another Brownie that Ian got for his 10th birthday in 1960, then his SLR camera from the mid-70s. Ian still has hundreds of slides that were taken during the late 70s and early 80s with the SLR camera, so he showed the 3/4s some slides using his projector, everybody enjoyed seeing Mrs Maxwell as a baby!
Ian also brought an old typewriter and showed everyone how to use it. He had some photos of various phones too, so we have been able to make a timeline showing the changes in phones from 1930 to today.
Lastly Ian showed the 3/4s some old tools that he borrowed from a friend of his, who is a collector and his old digital calculator.
It was a very informative and interesting afternoon.

After we did all the stuff the other people mentioned we had our snack. There were lots of stairs and there were these mats we could sit on so we don't sit on bird poo. After eating people started to chase people and go crazy.
by Maddison
After we went to the pumping station it was dark and smelly and boring because the smell was horrible and they talk a lot to it was kinda cool as well because they had a machine that moves really cool and it had coins and the machine because its too make it smooth.
by Andy
We had our lunch after the Pumping Station. Then we played on the playground, Andy got really dizzy after spinning around the spinning thing. My favorite place was Amazing Backyards because it was full of games to play.My favorite games in Amazing Backyards was The game where you had to survive and you were a animal I was the best at kookaburra.
By Nicholas
At the Amazing backyards we saw a huge spider behind the glass and the first time i saw it i screamed because it was very very scary. After that i played a games called Plants VS Insects. I Versed Lucie and I was the insect, I won the games and i was so happy. The next game I was the plant but I lost. It was very fun.
By Teah
When we got to science works we went to house of secrets after lunch and all the other stuff we went to the lighting room and when we got to the room there was a girl and this man put confetti in her hand and she put her other hand on a big silver ball then when he turned it on the confetti fell out of her hand and then the man told the girl to shake her head and when she shook her head she started getting a Mohawk.

Intrepica
Mrs Maxwell has found a wonderful literacy learning website, called Intrepica, that is similar to Mathletics but with a focus on reading, spelling, phonics, comprehension and other components of literacy learning. We are trialling with all the grade 3-6 students. Students in grade 3/4 will receive their username and password tomorrow in our multimedia sessions.
